How Well Will the New 2016 Toyota Tacoma Perform Off-Road?

When it comes to truck drivers, there are generally two types — those who require power and toughness on the jobsite and those who want to experience mud-slingin’ adventures where the blacktop ends. You are in luck, Toyota trucks have the power, toughness and off-road capabilities to get the job done regardless of which category you fall into. As far as Toyota trucks go, however, the belle of the ball is the redesigned and reenergized 2016 Toyota Tacoma, which is ready for anything you or Mother Nature can throw at it. Designed and built to dominate the trails, the new Tacoma offers incredible off-road features including the 2016 Toyota Tacoma Multi-Terrain Select system and Crawl Control.

Multi-Terrain Select System

We can’t mention off-road adventure without including the Toyota TRD Pro Series models in the conversation. These off-road brutes add performance-tuned off-road features to the Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner platforms that are capable of a blitzkrieg assault on any trail or mud-rutted road they come across. Improving on the Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road grade, Toyota designers have now added a Multi-Terrain Select system to the arsenal. With this new feature, you can choose from three trail-blazing driving modes at the turn of the dial. Loose rock, mud and sand driving modes each regulate wheel spin by adjusting the throttle and brake pressure to enhance traction in nearly any terrain. With just the turn of a dial, you can customize your off-road experience.

Crawl Control and More Off-Road Features

The off-road excitement and innovation doesn’t end there. With adventure in mind, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma is also equipped with an Automatic Limited Slip and Locking Rear Differential, Hill Start Assist Control, Clutch Start Cancel (for manual transmission editions) and Active Traction Control to enhance off-road performance. The most impressive new feature, however, is Crawl Control. If you find yourself facing a steep incline or rocky terrain, the Crawl Control off-road feature allows you to set a speed of 1-5 mph. Once this system is activated and takes over, it will handle all acceleration and braking, so you can stay focused on steering. Off-roading has never been so easy.

You can expect to see the redesigned 2016 Toyota Tacoma in the White River Toyota showroom by this fall — we know we can’t wait. Equipped with the 2016 Toyota Tacoma Multi-Terrain Select system and Crawl Control, the new Tacoma is unstoppable on the trail, providing miles and miles of mud-covered thrills.
