New Toyota FT-4X Concept at the 2017 NY Auto Show
After a brief teaser early in the month, we finally get our first real look at the new Toyota FT-4X concept — which stands for Future Toyota Four-Wheel Drive crossover. Those who fondly remember the old Toyota FJ Cruiser will likely find something to love here. Even though it is just currently a concept, both its name and look makes us think that it won’t be too long before we see a production model at a future auto show.

Off-Roading features in the FT-4X Concept
One of our favorite off-road focused features in the FT-4X isn’t actually one that affects performance. Toyota has built a GoPro Hero5 Session camera into the driver’s side rearview mirror to capture all of your best moments and adventures. The FT-4X also has sculpted rocker panels for additional protection when off-roading. All of this and much more can be found in the FT-4X.
Who is the Toyota FT-4X for?
So who exactly would the Toyota FT-4X be for if it hit production? The FT-4X is highly reminiscent of the old Toyota FJ Cruiser, which likely served as a point of inspiration. The FT-4X, like the FJ Cruiser, is an able and accomplished off-roading SUV. However, Toyota has said that the new concept would be geared toward those who are more casual fans of off-roading. To sum it up, the FT-4X would be great for someone who lives in the city but occasionally likes to go on some casual adventures.
