You can help White River Toyota stock shelves with food before the holidays

Canned food drive in White River Junction, VT

Many of us have the good fortune for to take a wonderful series of holiday dinners for granted. Unfortunately, there are many people in our community who cannot count on that. These people can be our friends and neighbors and it’s important we all pitch in as much as we can. White River Toyota is running a canned food drive in White River Junction, VT to benefit the great work and support all of the resources offered at the Springfield Family Center. The center provides supplemental groceries free of charge as well as hot meals and a day shelter with several of services and resources available to those who need them the most.

What is White River Toyota doing?

Already underway, the non-perishable food collection drive hosted by White River Toyota has been off to a strong start. Everyone on the White River Toyota team has been hard at work bringing in what they can as well as raiding the pantries of friends and family to help stock the shelves of the Springfield Family Center’s food bank. Now, the team is turning to everyone who will listen for additional help. We’re asking anyone who plans on stopping by the showroom or service department to bring what they can spare. We will be collecting canned goods, non-perishable food as well as personal hygiene products which will be delivered to the Springfield Family Center on or about Nov. 30.

What should I donate to the community food shelf?

The goal of operations like the food shelf provided by the Springfield Family Center is to help people stretch out their existing food budget for the week. There are few healthy or otherwise more nutritious items experts recommend that people should donate if they can.

100 percent fruit juices
Holiday foods

Water-packed canned fruit
Canned tuna/chicken

Shelf-stable milk
Whole grain pasta noodles

Peanut butter

If you’ve already made a donation to the White River Toyota canned food drive, we just want to say thank you. We look forward to making as big of a difference as we can with this effort.
