Meet Ben Cole - local high school student and now, White River Toyota technician. While Ben isn't a full time technician, he still has the opportunity to work on vehicles with his site supervisor and White River Toyota technician, Jeremy Bartlett. Although Ben will only be working with White River Toyota for a few months, he has the opportunity to learn best practices from a great shop while attending Hartford Area Vocational School. This is his senior year and through his internship he is getting real workplace experience and preparing his professional resume.
Our relationship with VOTEC is not new, it was started over 25 years ago with our current Service Manager, Chuck Decato. At that time, Chuck took student Chris Brooks under his wing and since then, Chris Brooks has become a Toyota Master Certified Techician at White River Toyota. Chris then began mentoring more students, along with our other Service Manager, TJ Towne. Over the course of the program we have worked with more than a dozen students to teach them best practices in the shop and to help them learn about what their interests are by getting their hands dirty in a real full service automotive repair shop.
While automotive is just one word, it is a very multi faceted industry. Whether you want to get your hands dirty in our service department from simple to complex repairs or you want to work on the outside of a car in our reconditioning department we always need help and love working with local interns. We love teaching the community about what we do, because in fact, at White River Toyota, It's All About People.
